Market
Common coming to Myrtle Beach, SC
|
MARKET COMMON CONTINUES TO GROW - As of
April 1st the new Market Common has begun to
take shape. Going Verticle with the first
story of steel up on several of the
buildings. The above photos show contractors
erecting the structural steel framework on
several of the major stores planned for a
2008 opening. More foundations and
preparation work can be seen in the
forefront as the cranes lift more steel into
place. There is currently a beehive of
activity taking place over nearly the entire
commercial portion of the 100 acre Market
Common urban village. Town homes in another
part of the Market Common are also underway,
and a May start date is expected on the
first of the live - work town homes along
Howard Avenue. |
| |
|
Workmen are also preparing some of the many
parking lots in preparation for paving, with
curb work being installed. The Commercial
stores and restaurants will be the heart of
the new urban village that will be the
driving engine of the overall residential
and commercial development underway on the
former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. RWO Acquisitions
is preparing their first residential
community named Balmoral. The main feeder
street, Coventry Avenue has been paved and
will lead to the communities of Withers
Preserve. Model homes will soon be started
in the Balmoral community and the sales
center for Balmoral should be opening next
month offering prospective buyers of Withers
Preserve properties an opportunity to view
the project plans and gain a feel of the low
country communities that will be constructed
along Farrow Parkway. |

| As
2007 begins, the work on the Commercial
portion of Market Common is advancing with
utility, drainage and grading site work as
seen in the above photos. We hope to have
information available soon on additional
townhouse units and Condominiums. There has
been a November update of the master site
plan approval and the excitement continues
to build as new plans are released and
approved by the City of Myrtle Beach. |

Construction offices for the various
builders on the complex are being readied at
the far western edge of the complex. It's a
bit hard to see exactly what is going on
with a quick drive by, but know that there
is a lot involved in coordinating all the
various buildings so they all fit together
and come up out of the ground as planned.
Once buildings start going vertical we will
see a lot more excitement in the project.
I'll do my best to keep you updated as The
Market Common is built. |
